Norm McLeod was born and raised in Oamaru. “After school my Objective was to be a hells angel. Did martial arts for 10 years, violent drug and alcohol past. In 1977, while living in Bondi Beach, Sydney, I experienced an accidental drug overdose. I took a hit from a bong, unaware the hash was laced with ketamine. My heart raced, my head felt like it would explode, and the room spun wildly. I collapsed, crawled outside, and began convulsing. Lying facedown, paralyzed and unable to move, I vomited, my mouth and nostrils filling, barely able to breathe. I realized I was moments from drowning in my own vomit. Though I didn’t believe in God, I felt a dark presence taunting me. Remembering my friend’s advice to call on Jesus in my darkest moment, I silently prayed, “Jesus, help me.” Instantly, my convulsions stopped, and I felt a profound peace. After 45 years, I’ve left that life behind and now pastor the House of Breakthrough in Gisborne, NZ.” Norm & his wife Jess have recently returned from India, with signs following, and they have taught Kingdom principles in many communities.
