RECOGNISING THE RELIGIOUS SPIRIT - Form over Fire

By David Quin, B.Th.

There is a spirit that has been in the church since the beginning.

It is not the Holy Spirit. It looks like devotion. It sounds like Scripture. It shows up early and stays until the end. But it has quietly replaced encounter with performance, love with judgment, and the move of God with the comfort of a plan nothing is allowed to interrupt.

Recognising the Religious Spirit names this pattern for what it is, not to point fingers, but to offer a way back — back to fire, back to a form that can actually hold it, back to the God who was never asking for a better performance, only a fresh encounter.
